MCR Breast Radiologist Zeal Patel, MD, was recently interviewed for a feature spot on Wavy TV News 10 regarding the success of the Sentara’s 3D Mobile Mammography, which travels around Hampton Roads to increase accessibility to screening mammography. Sentara staff screened 2,600 women on the mobile unit last year allowing for detection of 418 abnormal results, which led to 20 breast cancer diagnoses. Current fundraising will aim to bring two more mobile vans, one to exclusively service the Peninsula and an additional one for the Hampton Roads area. With two more vans, Sentara said it could offer 2,000 more screenings a year.
