Arjun Sobti, MDGeneral Radiology
Dr. Sobti was born and raised in the Chicagoland metropolitan area leading to his current fanaticism for the city’s sports teams. He stayed in the Midwest for his education and graduated from the University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign with a B.S. in Bioengineering. While in college he interned with Motorola Solutions, an experience that launched him on the career path as a Biotech Engineer in Silicon Valley, CA after he graduated in 2002.
His experience in Silicon Valley working for start-up companies concentrated on cancer marker proteins. Over time, Dr. Sobti’s attention and intrigue turned toward the field of medicine itself. He attended Saint James School of Medicine in Kralendijk, Bonaire, Netherlands Antilles and graduated as valedictorian of his class. During his rotations he was quickly attracted to the specialty of Radiology and specifically, Interventional Radiology. This was likely secondary to his love of both engineering and medicine coupled with the fact that his mother was a Radiologist.
Dr. Sobti completed his Diagnostic Radiology Residency in 2011 from the John H. Stroger Hospital, Cook County, Illinois and then directly entered a subspecialty Fellowship in Interventional Radiology at the University of Illinois Peoria, completing that program in 2012. His first job after residency and fellowship training was in the city of Chicago with a full time Interventional Radiology private practice. Dr. Sobti then transitioned to a position in a smaller private practice located in Iowa where his duties expanded to include all of Diagnostic Imaging, Mammography as well as Interventional Radiology. Aside from his clinical duties, Arjun was also very active in administration and sat on numerous committees and boards within the hospital.
Dr. Sobti and his family made the transition to the Mid-Atlantic area for warmer climes and has been excited about the opportunity he has for providing patient care to the communities that Medical Center Radiologists serve. When Arjun is not in the Interventional Radiology suite or the Radiology reading room, you will likely find him and his family on the beach. He enjoys traveling with his wife and 3 children and is an avid sports fan. He also enjoys cooking various cuisines, loves to try new and interesting foods, reading and learning new and interesting trivia, science, and history.
